BlackBerry brand owner: we are still working on smartphone with keyboard – Tablets and phones – News

is there any serious market for a keyboard yet?

If done right then absolutely.

I can remember writing a lot of code on my BlackBerry (Bold 9900, and before that my Torch 9800) while on vacation out of an emergency. You just don’t do that on Android, because a touchscreen keyboard can only be used (as far as I’m concerned) because of the corrections that are getting smarter.
On my Blackberry I also typed 3x faster without errors than I do on a touchscreen even after 10 years.

In addition, I just really liked it, nice buttons with a real click in them, and then that little touch scroll wheel for the interface with the touchscreen for fun, was a much better experience than I have on Android now.

I remember when the HTC Hero (one of the first real Android phones) also had such a ball and that was great, I really miss that nowadays.

Apart from the fact that I just like it as a consumer, there is certainly still a big gap in the business market for a telephone that simply works, is intuitive, can also be used with gloves or dirty hands, and that supports everything that you expected (such as WhatsApp and Teams) but without weird frills.

If the Key2 had been more affordable and/or had better specs and more updates, I would have bought it now just for the keyboard. But if they can make something that’s just a Bold 9900, Key2, or Unihertz Titan but with decent specs (i.e. medium-end camera, medium or high-end SOC, 5G, 64+GB storage) then I’m hooked. .
