Bishop Denounces Alleged Visionary Gisella Cardia for Unreliable and Self-Referential Messages in Trevignano

“Unreliable” and “self-referential”. This is the portrait that emerges regarding the alleged visionary of Trevignano, Gisella Cardia, in the decree of the bishop of Civita Castellana, mons. Marco Salvi, on the non-supernatural nature of the alleged apparitions of the Madonna in Trevignano. “The main problem – the bishop writes in the document – lies in the way in which the alleged seer derives the truth she teaches, that is, not from the interpretation of Tradition and in particular of Scripture, but starting from alleged inspirations that come from the divine Persons and by Mary. The numerous doctrinal errors are legitimized not by a theological argument, but by the immediate inspiration addressed by God and Mary to the alleged seer, so they are incontestable ex sede”.

A further problem, writes the bishop, “is given by the excessive simplicity of the themes of the messages and exhortations of the alleged visionary, incapable of truly forming the faithful because they are far from the richness of Scripture and the broader ecclesial Tradition. These are contents that could be offered by any person who has a minimum of familiarity with the themes of Christian spirituality. Such contents refer to that popular prophecy that has accompanied the history of the Western Church since the Middle Ages and which has nothing to do with the popular mysticism of which Pope Francis speaks. This has a theological relevance because it makes them not indicative of the supernatural character of the alleged apparitions in question.”

Finally, in the content of the messages, Mgr. observes. Salvi, “there is also a judgment on the institutional Catholic Church. It is judged as belonging partly to the sphere of salvation and partly to the kingdom of the evil one based on its correspondence with the inspirations received from the alleged seer. Beyond the declarations of principle, for Gisella Cardia the Church is the object of evaluation and judgment starting from her personal doctrinal vision, which is also influenced by priests known to her but who express ideas and positions that are at least questionable. An example of this self-referentiality of the alleged seer is there her refusal of the priest initially assigned to her by the Bishop Emeritus, Monsignor Rossi, as spiritual companion, stating that he was not the person wanted by the Madonna, and the choice of another person because he was pleasing to the Virgin. of the expert assessments ordered by the Curia, to which the Cardia agreed to submit, its unreliability can be deduced”.
