Binance and Founder Changpeng Zhao Accused of Mismanagement and Conflict of Interest by SEC

13 counts, including mismanagement of client funds, conflict of interest and engaging in a network of deception.

A new blow to the cryptocurrency market was specifically victimized by Binance, the world’s largest platform for buying and selling digital assets and cryptocurrencies. The US Securities and Exchange Commission accused Binance and its founder, Changpeng Zhao, of ignoring rules aimed at protecting investors.

Then, just one day later, it issued an order to freeze Binance’s assets.

This is not the first time that the platform has been exposed to this type of accusation, as the US authorities had previously accused it last March of illegal practices, the most serious of which was facilitating violations of US law and evading compliance controls.

More details in this week’s episode of Market and Index.
