Bimota KB4. New data revealed by homologation – News

Launched as a suggestion at EICMA 2019, when it was almost surprisingly reborn Bimota – bound to Kawasaki Europe – presented the Thesis H2, the Bimota KB4 it will be the second model produced by the Rimini company and, with great probability, we will see it in its final form at the next edition of EICMA in November.

From January 2020 to last August they followed one another images and video teasers that something have already revealed and now, thanks to approval data, you can learn more.

When rewinding the tape it is useful to remember that the KB1 was the first Kawasaki Bimota to see the light in 1978 with the 1,015 cc four-cylinder air from the then Z1000 and the chassis – as well as the aesthetics – designed by Massimo Tamburini.

The KB4 is a reference to that model in the style and it is not an extreme sport as you might think looking at the engine supercharged of the Tesi H2 or the two hundred and more horsepower of the engine mounted on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.

In fact, Bimota opted for the four-cylinder 1.043 cc adopted by the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, an engine that in its current version provides 142 cavalli a 10.000 rpm and a maximum torque of 11.3 kgm at 8,000 rpm.
No high revs and high power, therefore, but more torque and greater tractability at the expense of greater performance at the top but considered less in line with the spirit and potential customers of this model. Which is super sporty, yes, but not extreme.

The maximum speed is in fact indicated in 250 km/h, but the bike should reach it with a faster progression than the 1000SX.

The KB4 uses a chassis of Bimota technical tradition: trellis of chromium molybdenum tubes connected to side plates in light alloy machined from solid.
The step is of 1,390 mm (it is 1,450 on the ZX-10R) and the curb weight is contained in 194 kg: they are thirteen less than the ZX-10R and even 41 less than the sport touring Ninja 1000SX.
The tires measure 120/70-ZR17 at the front and 190/50-ZR17 at the rear.

The pictures in the TUV tests then show brakes Brembo with monobloc calipers and suspension Ohlins.
And who knows if something else will come up before EICMA …
