His name is Bill de Blasio and is now the new mayor of New York. Elected last night to take over from Michael Bloomberg, who is completing a third term . His main rival was Joe Lhota, former first assistant to Rudolph Giuliani.
An indisputable victory since the candidate swept everything in his path: according to the partial results, he would have won 70% of the votes.
The victory of this man, who has made his entire campaign by presenting himself as the advocate of the neglected of the economic recovery, represents a breath of fresh air for the Democratic Party which no longer presides over the destinies of the Big Apple since 1994, year of the arrival of Rudolph Giuliani.
The new mayor has therefore reversed the trend, Aurélien Colly.

Mediator of the city, Bill de Blasio is an experienced politician who notably held the reins of the victorious election campaign of Hillary Clinton in 2000 when she was running for a mandate as senator of the State of New York. He has often fiercely opposed Michael Bloomberg, criticizing him in particular for his security policy.
His competitor Joe Lhota considers that he lacks experience in positions of responsibility and ensures that his election risks resulting in an increase in delinquency.
A surprise candidate
Until the end of July, many expected former House Democrat MP Anthony Weiner to win the nomination, two years after resigning from his post over mores.
