“We had a conversation and it didn’t come across very well, so to speak,” Wilfred tells expert Patrick van Veen. “We’ve chosen to leave it as it is…to stop.” Why does the couple want to give up? “If the feeling is not there on one side, then there is no point in continuing,” said Wilfred.
Wilfred indicates that he made the decision out of ‘self-protection’. “My feeling already indicated it and after visiting the art museum I thought: we should not continue with this. He indicated that he did not have the butterflies. Difficult.” Wilfred, who seems to be in love, drinks the sadness away with a sip of water.
Although there has been no argument, Wilfred finds it hurtful that François does not have butterflies in his stomach, because he does. A new phase in the experiment will soon start: the couples weekend. Wilfred has little interest in that now. “I don’t like that for myself. I’m going to do it, but it’s not going very well in any case. I’m really not looking forward to it.”
Patrick actually thinks that Wilfred throws in the towel too early. “It is mainly a self-protection wall. Together, with both of us, we have to see if we can still mean something. It is not ready yet,” says the expert.
