US President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday that he was “not confident” that he would have sought to win a second term in the elections scheduled for the end of next year if his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, had not run for these elections.
The 81-year-old Democratic president said during a fundraising campaign in the city of Weston, Massachusetts (northeast), “If Trump had not run, I am not sure that I would have run. However, we cannot let him win.”
Biden, whose election campaign faces many difficulties, continues to assert that he is in a better position to once again defeat his Republican rival, even though he faces weaknesses in marketing himself to voters, especially because of his age and the economic outcome of his reign.
Biden continues to say that American democracy will once again be at stake in the upcoming elections, which he expects to be a copy of the previous elections.
Although Biden does not enjoy overwhelming popularity among his party, his victory on the Democratic nomination ticket for the November 2024 elections is almost guaranteed unless a major surprise or serious health problem occurs that forces him to withdraw.
On the other hand, all opinion polls agree that Trump is currently the most likely candidate to win the Republican Party primary elections.
