It has already been reported that a man armed in Colorado, USA, opened fire in a grocery store on Monday, shooting ten people.
“I don’t need to wait another minute or another to take common sense steps that will save lives in the future,” Biden said, calling on Congress to take action on arms control.
“We should also ban weapons of war in this process,” Biden said, noting that in 1994 Congress was able to agree and pass a ban on weapons of war for ten years.
In 1994, under Democratic President Bill Clinton, a ban on 19 types of weapons of war was signed in the United States, but expired ten years later, and efforts to re-establish the ban have failed so far.
The Colorado shooter has been identified as 21-year-old Ahmad al-Alivi Alice and charged with ten murders on Tuesday.
His motive has not been clarified yet, officials said.
Shooting King Soopers supermarket in Boulder, Colorado was the seventh massacre in the United States this year. On March 16, eight people were killed in three spas in Atlanta, Georgia.
