The size of the average insurance income for the country for the month of January 2024. is BGN 1,592.01. The average monthly social security income for the country for the period from 02.01.2023 to 01.31.2024 is BGN 1,462.51. This was announced by the National Social Security Institute (NOAH).
The determined average monthly insurance income for the country for the specified period is used in calculating the amounts of the newly granted pensions in the month of February 2024, according to Art. 70, para. 3 of the Social Security Code.
The amount of the average insurance income for the country for December 2023 was BGN 1,575.02.
From April 1, 2024, the National Insurance Institute will recalculate the pensions of about 350,000 pensioners who have acquired insurance experience after retirement or after the last recalculation of pensions.
The recalculation will cover working pensioners receiving employment pensions – pensions for length of service and age, pensions for disability due to general illness and pensions for disability due to occupational accident and occupational disease. They must have acquired social security experience in the previous year 2023 and not have submitted an application for the recalculation of their pension with social security experience and social security income acquired after their retirement by the date of the current service recalculation.
