Beware of Monkey Smallpox, West Java Residents Are Called to Tighten PHBS

BANDUNG – Residents of West Java are advised to tighten clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), in line with the emergence of an outbreak of monkeypox or monkeypox.

Head of the Health Service Division of the West Java Health Service (Dinkes), Raden Vini Adiani Dewi said, although the disease has not been detected in West Java, his party continues to disseminate prevention efforts.

“The follow-up from the West Java Health Office is to take preventive measures and outreach, especially PHBS and waiting for guidelines from the central government,” said Vini, Wednesday (25/5/2022).

According to Vini, his party could not comment further regarding efforts to treat the disease. The reason is that the central government in this case the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has not issued any directives regarding the handling of the disease which has become endemic in a number of countries on the European and American continents.

“The transmission of the disease is like ordinary smallpox, but we are also still waiting for the latest news from the Ministry of Health. PHBS must still be implemented by the people of West Java,” he said.

It is known, monkeypox disease is currently endemic in a number of European countries and several American states. Until now, the World Health Organization (WHO) noted, there were 14 confirmed cases of monkeypox disease.
