Beware of Fake Email Scams on Facebook and Instagram, Here’s How to Avoid It: Okezone techno

Or email from Instagram claiming that your account will be blocked or deleted if you don’t follow the directions given? Yes, it could be that you are under a phishing attack or a scam to obtain personal information.

Phishing is a form of cyber attack, where someone pretends to be someone else and tries to trick them into submitting personal information. In this case, the scammer will typically send an email that looks like it’s from Facebook or Instagram with the logo attached.

Making it difficult for some people to identify real and fake emails. To that end, Facebook and Instagram are developing features that can help people stay safe and comfortable when using these platforms.

Here are steps you can take to protect yourself from phishing scams on Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook suggests that if you have received an email claiming to be from Facebook, you can confirm its correctness by checking the latest email sent by Facebook through these steps:

1. Open the Facebook application on your phone.

2. Click the three lines icon at the bottom right of the Facebook application.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select 4. Settings & Privacy> Settings> Security and Login.

5. Scroll (scroll) to the bottom of the menu, look for the Advanced menu> See the latest email from Facebook.

In this menu, Facebook will display the latest emails about account security, in the last two weeks on the Security tab, while other recent emails sent by Facebook can be seen in the Other Emails tab.

Avoid clicking on the link in the email claiming to be from Facebook before Facebook has checked the truth through the steps above. As for Instagram, to help identify phishing and spam emails, you can view official emails from Instagram sent in the last 14 days on the Settings menu.

Here are the steps to view emails sent by Instagram:

1. Open the Instagram application on your cellphone.

2. Click the profile then click the three lines icon at the top right of the Instagram application.

3. Select Settings> Security.

4. Select Email from Instagram.

In this menu, Instagram will display the latest emails about account security in the last two weeks on the Security tab. Meanwhile, other recent emails sent by Instagram can be seen on the Other Emails tab. In addition, official Instagram messages regarding account security will only be sent to your email address, and will not be sent via Direct Message.
