Beware, Addiction to Streaming Video Services Has Bad Effects on Health

Binge watching will lead to sleep deprivation, if you watch it non-stop until late at night. Lack of sleep can affect mood, concentration, and memory.

Not only, a person with a sleep deprivation condition will cause that person to be temperamental and quick to anger. Health problems that may be experienced, including obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and decreased memory function and learning ability.

Lack of sleep can also increase the hormone cortisol (stress hormone), thus will cause suppression of the immune system, vulnerable to attacks of colds (common cold) and flu.

There is also research by the University of Queensland, Australia, which reveals that adults who like to “watch marathons” tend to have weaker muscles.

Basically watching shows via video streaming services can be a good stress reliever if done in moderation. It will be different if what you watch is a serial program that continues to make you curious until the end.

If you are currently entering the addiction phase of watching over streaming services, fix it immediately. You have to do other activities like exercise, reading and limit your viewing to just a few hours.

Another way is to avoid using technology if this activity has become a coping mechanism or a defense mechanism for someone.
