Purple is also a color that mosquitoes don’t like, especially because purple has the shortest wavelength of all the colors on the visible light spectrum. This is useful if you paint the walls and put purple furniture in your room.
3. White
Generally, mosquitoes stay away from bright colors that reflect heat. This makes white an ideal mosquito deterrent. In fact, white is often used as a control object used in this research. The goal is to pair each color in the test space with a white object to compare the results. Research shows that even with CO2 sprayed in the test chamber, mosquitoes avoided white objects.
4. Green
It might sound strange, because mosquitoes usually fly around the yard or land on green plants. However, research shows that mosquitoes will try to avoid the color green.
During the study, a researcher placed their bare hand outside the test chamber, where mosquitoes were attracted. However, when the same researchers put their hands into the test chamber wearing green gloves, the mosquitoes ignored them, and flew past. Even when sprayed with CO2 to attract more of them, mosquitoes were still not attracted to the color green.
