Best Ceramide Winter Skincare Products for Dry Skin: Russian Beauty Blogger’s Top Picks for Hydration and Protection

Nastya Suraeva found some cool winter remedies. And not just for winter.

When real winter began in Moscow, my perfectly structured care system failed. Frosts, hot radiators, a virus, plus I ended up in that Moscow district where the lights and heating were turned off. I had to turn on the infrared heater, but it burns all the oxygen (and skin).

The skin became dehydrated and peeling appeared. I realized that I (she) lacked ceramides.

What are the benefits of ceramides:

  • Restore skin barrier. With a deficiency of ceramides, the stratum corneum literally crumbles. And when using skincare cosmetics with ceramides, it “glues” back together.
  • Moisturize. More precisely, they create a layer that hinders transepidermal water loss. This also causes fine wrinkles become less noticeable.
  • Protect from the penetration of bacteria and allergens through micro-cracks.
  • Prevents irritationwhich may appear if you use products with active ingredients (for example, ceramides use when treating acne with tretinoin).
  • Restore skin with dermatological diseases: atopic and contact dermatitis, ichthyosis, psoriasis. And with regular use can prevent appearance of symptoms.
  • Prevents the formation of comedones and acne. Eat data, that a deficiency of linoleic acid, which is present in ceramides, leads to the formation of comedones and exacerbation of acne.
  • Maybe, are a signaling molecule that stimulates cell regeneration. Now this connection is only assumed; it has not yet been possible to accurately decompose this process into stages.

More about ceramides:

Ceramides are an ingredient that your skin needs in winter. And not only

I looked through the list of products with ceramides that I liked – almost nothing is available in Russia anymore.

I went to Google others. It turned out that everything is not so simple. The label may say Ceramide Cream or Lipid Cream, but it does not contain ceramides. I had to look through the compositions of all interesting products in search of this ingredient.

I will not repeat myself in reviews of each product. They all work (otherwise they wouldn’t be here): they remove flaking and restore the skin barrier. How do I understand this? To the touch. Imagine the difference between cheap grayish paper and expensive coated paper.

Night mask Bifida Biome Deep Sleeping Mask, Ma:nyo

Active Ingredients:

  • Bifida Biome Complex: probiotics and lactic acid;
  • LHA and PHA acids;
  • niacinamide;
  • ceramides NP;
  • hyaluronic acid

Ma:nyo is a discovery last year, although I wrote that I am indifferent to Korean cosmetics (at least to the range that is presented in the Russian Federation). I love hydrophilic oil, mist, I even opened the second bottle in a row. Now I’m testing a couple more creams and a toner with panthenol. First impressions are excellent.

The texture of Bifida Biome Deep Sleeping Mask is half-cream-half-gel, does not stick after application, and does not tighten the skin. I used it both as a mask (a couple of times a week) and as a night cream (several days in a row).

Price: 2683 rubles on Ozone (please note that the brand has official store on OzonI can’t vouch for a hundred other sellers).

Hyal Kombucha Tea-Tox Cream, Medi-Peel

Active Ingredients:

  • Extracts of kombucha, centella, green tangerines, camellia and black tea;
  • hyaluronic acid;
  • ceramides.

Medi-Peel is another brand discovery, and again Korean.

For the first time in my life, I unpacked the cream and realized that I didn’t know how to use it. Some kind of jelly, some kind of substance underneath.

To mix or not to mix? At first I decided to leave it as is. But these two phases are picked up randomly with my finger, and in different quantities, and I’m too lazy to wash the spatula every time. Then I mixed it. Of course, it turned out to be more convenient (the first photo shows the result of this mixing).

This is my favorite cream at the moment.

Price: 3720 rub. on the official site.

Face cream Mango Butter Cream, Ligne St Barth

Active Ingredients:

  • ceramides,
  • mango, almond, avocado and shea seed butters;
  • squalane.

I always perceived St Barth exclusively as a brand of body products, facial care – like a pleasant pampering. But I found ceramides in Mango Butter Cream.

And – I apologize to the brand. She was wrong. Excellent cream, at the professional level. The release states that the water in the composition is sea water. I don’t think it matters, but at least I can afford some sea water?

The scent of the cream is in the style of St Barth – something unobtrusively tropical, noticeable only during application.

Price: RUB 11,860 on the official site.

Moisturizing cream Aquaporin Cream and facial serum Laser Rejuvenation Ampoule, Cell Fusion C

Key ingredients of Aquaporin Cream:

  • aquaporins;
  • ceramides;
  • hyaluronic acid;
  • centella extract;
  • panthenol;
  • vitamin E;
  • folic and palmitic acid.

Key ingredients of Laser Rejuvenation Ampoule:

  • niacinamide;
  • probiotics;
  • hyaluronic acid;
  • collagen;
  • centella extract;
  • peptides;
  • vitamin E.

See above – I am indifferent to Korean cosmetics. But Cell Fusion is another brand discovery (and again Korean).

Serum Laser Rejuvenation Ampoule is designed to restore skin after cosmetic procedures; it copes with irritated and dehydrated skin in one go. I used it under all the creams from this collection.

The texture of Aquaporin Cream is very light. These usually absorb on me within a minute, leaving me with the feeling that there was no cream at all. But Aquaporin Cream works as a product with a rich texture, restoring the protective barrier right away.

It contains aquaporins – an under-researched ingredient, but I believe in it. They should create channels for water to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.

Prices: cream – 2009 rub., serum — 2399 rub. exclusively at Letual.

Skin Protect Lipid Cream, Babor

Active Ingredients:

  • red algae extract;
  • macadamia, shea and jojoba oils;
  • Panthenol and glycerin.

A few years ago Babor released a winter cream Skin Protect Cream, it was limited, so it didn’t last long. But I liked it, I used it for a couple of years both as a protective cream in cold weather and as a restorative night cream.

Skin Protect Lipid Cream is similar to it, but not a copy, I compared the ingredients. But the effect is the same: it restores the lipid barrier and protects against frost and heating.

Price: 6900 rubles on Spadream.
