Antwerp provincial governor Cathy Berx asks everyone to ‘please do not come to Antwerp for the sake of your own health and that of all those dear to you’. At the same time she asks that the Antwerp residents stay in Antwerp.

After a very long meeting of the crisis cell, a number of far-reaching measures were announced (see below). Afterwards, Berx asked everyone to be “creative in jointly defeating the virus and not in circumventing the measures.”
Partying is clearly prohibited in the province of Antwerp, she said. “All banquet halls are closing.” And she also urged the people of Antwerp not to party elsewhere.
It is very important that there are as few contacts as possible between Antwerp residents and people from other provinces, according to Governor Berx. These measures will remain valid for at least four weeks. The province’s crisis cell will of course continue to monitor the situation closely.
