Bernie Sanders announced on Wednesday that he will end his presidential campaign. It is therefore almost certain that his rival Joe Biden will take on Donald Trump as a Democratic presidential candidate.
Senator’s campaign team reports that the decision was discussed on Wednesday during a conference call with its employees.
Sanders informs his supporters in a video message that he is grateful for all the support. In it, the 78-year-old politician again argues for accessible care and education.
The politician first took part in the Democratic primaries in 2016, but was then defeated by Hillary Clinton. She eventually lost to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The United States presidential election is held on November 3. Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Mayor Pete Buttigieg previously left the race.
