Bergans stops ads on Facebook and Instagram – E24

Several giant companies such as Starbucks, Coca-Cola and Unilever have recently embarked on a growing boycott campaign against advertising on Facebook.

Now the Norwegian turtle manufacturer Bergans is moving on Stop Hate for Profit- kampanjen trying to get Facebook to take hold of racist and hateful statements.

They state that they will no longer advertise on Facebook or Instagram. The latter is owned by Facebook.

Bergans then becomes the first Norwegian advertiser to stop advertising on the two social media, after what E24 knows.

“In Bergans, we have a foundation of values ​​that is deeply rooted in the organization,” says Bergans CEO Jan Tore Jensen in a press release.

– Hateful speech, discriminatory comments and racist attitudes contradict everything we believe. Against this background, we now stop all advertising on Facebook and Instagram in all markets, he continues.

E24 did not manage to get a comment from Bergans.

Today’s business reports that two other Norwegian companies have announced that they will do the same: the IT company Smartdok in Alta, and the design agency Netlife in Oslo.
