Jogging, going for a walk, playing table tennis: none of these are hip trend sports, but outdoor exercise during the corona pandemic has both found new fans and revived old enthusiasm. Those who enjoy exercising on equipment and being outside will soon find something to do in Berg am Laim. A new fitness park will be built in Michaelianger this summer.
The exercise park is to be built on a 2000 square meter lawn between the FC Phönix sports field, the kindergarten on Rahel-Straus-Weg, the bed of the Hachinger Bach and a playground in the public green corridor. You can then train in three different areas in the future. On the one hand, there are devices for doing strength and movement exercises, such as a balancing stretch, a push-up station or a bar construction for pull-ups and other bodyweight exercises. A second area of the equipment is designed so that people with physical disabilities can also do sports there. The floor of this area is elastic and can be used, for example, with a wheelchair. The third part of the park is reserved for boules players. The track will be separated from the rest of the fitness course by a seat wall. “I am pleased that the wish of some boules players who have wanted a track in the district for years has come true,” said Fabian Ewald (CSU) in the most recent meeting of the Berg am Laim district committee.
The green corridor near the Josephsburg underground station is also very popular with walkers, which is why at one point or another there are trails off the gravel paths. One of them is currently crossing the future boule alley. The district committee therefore suggests observing this point and, if necessary, breaking the path with a hedge in the future.
