Real Madrid qualify for the quarterfinals Champions League after getting rid of Paris Saint Germain. El Real won the second leg 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick Karim Benzema.
The second leg of the Champions League last 16 brings together Madrid vs PSG at the Santiago Bernabeu, Thursday (10/3/2022). Les Parisiens came with a 1-0 aggregate advantage in the first leg.
PSG took the lead in the first half thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s goal. Madrid equalized in the 61st minute through Karim Benzema’s goal.
The Madrid striker added another goal in the 76th and 78th minutes. Los Merengues won 3-1 and sealed a ticket to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 aggregate.
The course of the match
PSG got the first chance in the seventh minute. Kylian Mbappe’s flat kick from the right side could be caught by Thibaut Courtois.
Mbappe again threatened through his kick ball six minutes later. Courtois saved the ball again.
Madrid hit back in the 25th minute. Karim Benzema’s long-range shot was parried by Gianluigi Donnarumma and only resulted in a corner kick.
OFFSIDE! Mbappe scored in the 35th minute after receiving Nuno Mendes’ pull pass. The linesman raises the offside flag when Mendes gets the ball home.
Madrid had a golden opportunity two minutes later. Benzema’s header in the penalty box is still wide of the PSG goal.
GOAL! PSG broke the deadlock in the 39th minute. Mbappe got a pass from Neymar and finished it into a goal through a kick ball in the penalty box.
Madrid tried to catch up before halftime, but their efforts failed to produce results. The first half ended with PSG winning 1-0.
The home team stepped on the gas early in the second half. The meeting of the PSG defense can not be dismantled Vinicius Junior et al.
OFFSIDE! Mbappe again broke into Madrid’s goal in the 53rd minute. The French striker had already been caught offside before receiving Neymar’s through ball.
1-1! Madrid equalized in the 61st minute. Benzema scored a tap-in using Vinicius’ cross. Score changed 1-1.
Benzema almost scored the second goal two minutes later. The Madrid captain’s header bounced off the PSG goal.

2-1! Benzema successfully netted the ball against PSG for the second time in the 76th minute. Starting from a counter-attack, Modric sent a pass to Benzema which was completed into a goal. Los Blancos lead 2-1.
BENZEMA HAT-TRICK! Madrid scored the third goal two minutes later. Benzema broke into PSG’s goal again after kicking the ball vomited by Marquinhos.
The score 3-1 for Madrid lasted until the long whistle sounded. El Real qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-2 aggregate advantage.
