There are goals that everyone remembers several years later, but sometimes it is gestures or assists that mark memories. Like his little number against Atlético in May 2017, Karim Benzema amazed his world last night with his brilliant pass, heel, to allow Casemiro to launch Real Madrid against Espanyol Barcelona (the video summary of the match here).
“A genius commands in Liga”, the sports daily Marca is ecstatic this morning, photo of Benzema’s heel in support.
A “heel” that we also find on the front page of the other big Madrid sports daily AS, which underlines that this gesture offers even more leadership to Real in La Liga (Zidane’s men are now two points ahead of Barça).
In France, L’Equipe is not outdone and offers a nice pun: “What heel”.
Seeing this action, many also thought about Guti’s “taconazo” for Benzema in 2010. The man who just got fired from Almeria also thought about it and congratulated his former teammate on Twitter.

Not to be outdone, Zinedine Zidane also appreciated the delicious action of his number 9: “I’m not surprised by what Karim does. He’s a player who makes up things on the pitch and his control and tailgating is great. This may be one of the actions of this Liga. And c “is collective action.
