Bentley Celebrates 20 Years of the Continental GT with a Special Anniversary Edition

Twenty years ago, the Bentley Continental GT revived this traditional British car manufacturer under the wings of the Volkswagen concern with a brand new engine of an unconventional W12 configuration. It became very successful and the automaker is celebrating its anniversary with a special Continental GT S.

This time, however, it is not a limited edition of perhaps twenty units, but one single car that the brand presented at the Shanghai Motor Show. She dressed it in Magnetic gray metallic, added the red lines of the front lollipop and sill extensions and the rear bumper, as well as twenty-two-inch black wheels.

The interior carries the same color combination of black, gray and red. A combination of two-tone trim with a red dividing line was created especially for this car, which cannot be ordered in the “regular” Continental GT.

In addition to the unique Continental, the automaker also reminds the history of this model with a video, in which we curiously do not find the gray anniversary piece. However, both the original, twenty-year-old model and several racing versions, as well as the current Continental GT as a coupe and convertible, will be shown.

The original Continental GT was a sensation at the time of its arrival on the market, as it was the first car with four full-size seats to reach speeds of over 300 km/h. It had no direct competitor and, in addition to introducing the W12 engine, it was also the first Bentley with all-wheel drive.

For this year’s Festival of Speed in Goodwood, which will take place in June, the car company is also preparing an annual exhibition dedicated to its unique twelve-cylinder engine. It has already announced that its production will end in April next year and the brand will focus only on electric cars.

The 12-year-old in the Bentley has his days numbered, he will end up with the Batur model
