Benfica’s David Jurásek Transfer to Hoffenheim, Loan Deadline and Contract Rumors

According to the Portuguese media, David Jurásek is heading from Benfica to Hoffenheim. The 23-year-old Czech national team defender should stay at the German club until the end of the season, and part of the agreement is supposed to include an option for a summer transfer, reportedly worth at least 10 million euros (247.5 million crowns). The sports daily A Bola reported about it.

If the transaction were to go through, Jurásek would become a teammate of another Czech fullback, Pavel Kadeřábek, at Hoffenheim.

Jurásek headed to Benfika last summer from Slavia Prague for a reported 14 million euros (346.5 million crowns), which made him the second most expensive transfer from the Vršovice club in history after Tomáš Souček. He signed a contract with the Lisbon club until 2028.

Jurásek scored in the first warm-up game for Benfica in the summer, but later he did not live up to the high expectations at all. He was injured at the beginning of the season and after returning to the grass, he is still searching in vain for his former form. In the autumn part, he played in 12 competitive matches, of which only six in the Portuguese league. Recently, he was just sitting as a substitute on the bench, where he also spent the last three matches.

There has been speculation for a long time that Benfica will send Jurašek on loan. His position has weakened further after the Lisbon outfit signed another left-back, Álvaro Carreras, earlier in the week. French clubs Lens and Marseille and Glasgow Rangers were reportedly among those interested in Jurask. According to the Lisbon daily, however, the full-back with five starts for the Czech national team will eventually land in Hoffenheim, who currently occupy eighth place in the Bundesliga.
