Krennic debuted in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story like the man who directed the construction of the Death Star. Although Krennic was killed in the Battle of Scarif, the character has been further explored in canon dating back to his days as an honor student in the Future of the Republic Program, where he maintained a friendship and rivalry with fellow student Galen Erso.
