Anatoly Novik, chief specialist of the department for aquaculture and fisheries of the State Enterprise Belvodkhoz, spoke about this in the BELTA project “The Country is Speaking”.
According to him, the fishing industry in Belarus is developing thanks to the existing support of the government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
On a competitive basis, support is provided for the purchase of compound feed, veterinary drugs for preventive work, and the purchase of lime for treating ponds.
“The growth in fish production volumes is planned both by increasing the capacity utilization of existing industrial fish-breeding complexes for the production of valuable fish species, and through construction in 2024–In 2025, a complex for the production of valuable fish species with a production capacity of 1 thousand tons of trout per year, the implementation of one fish breeding complex for the production of fertilized rainbow trout eggs. By increasing the production volumes of herbivorous fish species, the consumption of feed per 1 kg of farmed fish will decrease,” – the specialist said.
The company is interested in providing Belarusians with live, fresh fish. According to Novik, sea fish almost always arrive frozen. And this cannot but affect the quality of the product.
“Our fish is more healthy, it is full of microelements, vitamins and essential amino acids,” – assured Anatoly Novik.
Most often, Belarusians choose live carp, crucian carp, and silver carp. Processed products are also in demand – These are fillets, minced meat, hot and cold smoked products.
