For our neighbors, these discounts are therefore an opportunity to rush into much cheaper products, such as drinks. “To give an idea, Belgian Thursday is our biggest day of the week. This represents almost between 25 and 28% of the week’s turnover”, details Cyril Alips, manager of this Carrefour. Some stock up on cheese, while others organize themselves with two shopping carts. “There is a cart for drinks and a cart for extras”says one of the customers affected by the discount. “For us, it’s a family outing. Now that these discounts exist, I no longer buy in Belgium”, guarantees another Belgian customer, who came to do her shopping with her mother and daughter. Belgian purchases in France increased by 83% in one year.
