The Belgian singer Stromae has canceled the concerts he was supposed to give next week in Amsterdam. The three concerts in the Ziggo Dome are canceled due to his “current health”. He made this known on social media.

Other performances up to and including the end of May in France, the United Kingdom and Italy, among others, have also been cancelled. “I have come to the conclusion that my current health does not allow me to meet you now,” Stromae writes to his fans.

“I’m sorry to share this news that saddens me a lot, but I have to set my limits. Surrounded by my family, I have to take the time to get well to be able to perform again.”

He does not say in the message what exactly is wrong with him. He does say that he will hopefully have positive news soon. “I look forward to seeing you all and resuming this tour along with my teams who have supported me over the years.”

The sold-out concerts in the Ziggo Dome were part of the tour Multitude from Stromae. Fans who bought tickets will get their money back. Concerts by Stromae are also scheduled in the Ziggo Dome on 22 and 23 November. Those performances will continue for now.

A new album

Stromae previously struggled with a burnout, which he spoke candidly about last year. He also spoke about his depression and the suicidal thoughts he had.

Stromae is the stage name of Paul Van Haver, a popular artist of Belgian-Rwandan descent. Between 2010 and 2014 he scored big hits like Papaoutai, Formidable in Then we dance. After that he disappeared from view for a long time due to his burnout. At the beginning of March, a new album was released for the first time in seven years: Multitude.
