Raf Simons (52) will be the creative director at Prada from 1 April, reports The cut. The Belgian designer will share that function with the 70-year-old Miucci Prada, who has been involved with the fashion house since 1978.
“We think this is the first time that two mature designers have decided to work together,” Prada said in a telephone interview.
According to Prada, whose grandfather Mario started the fashion house in 1913, the appointment of Simons does not mean that she is preparing for her retirement: “I want to work better and harder.”
Simons started his own men’s clothing brand in 1995. In addition, the designer worked for Jill Sander, Christian Dior and Calvin Klein.
