Despite considerable advances in childhood cancer treatment, brainstem glioma, a particularly aggressive tumor, continues to claim countless lives. While the survival rates for many childhood cancers now exceed 85% after five years, the same cannot be said for those diagnosed with brainstem glioma. Typically, less than 10% of children with this tumor survive beyond the second year post-diagnosis.
