Front 242 had to cancel two concerts this weekend. The Belgian band was supposed to perform in the Kortrijk hall De Kreun, but saw frontman Jean-Luc De Meyer being hospitalized.

It is not clear what is wrong with the singer, but in a communiqué the other group members say that his condition is serious. “Jean-Luc was hospitalized overnight from Thursday to Friday and his health is worrying. We realize that fans have been looking forward to this concert and are disappointed. Let’s keep Jean-Luc in our hearts.”

Front 242 has been around since the 80s and has scored worldwide. They were pioneers in electronic body music† The band is also considered a precursor of techno and new beat. At the time they mainly caused a furore with the song Headhunter whose music video was directed by Anton Corbijn.(tove)
