Belarus President Lukashenko Denies Allegations of Ukrainian Counter-Offensive as Disinformation

Allegations of a Ukrainian counter-offensive are disinformation. This was announced today, on May 18, at a meeting with participants in the meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to him, Russia was ready to conclude an agreement on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

“From the first day, Russian parliamentarians have been directly involved in this. We have proposed: let’s sit down at the negotiating table. Well, they kicked each other in the face – let’s talk, let’s stop this war. Three rounds have passed in Belarus. Then it became not that crowded for Zelensky (President of Ukraine Vladimir ZelenskyEADaily), or something else – they left for Turkey. Okay, let’s go to Turkey. A draft treaty was placed on the table. If Russia were reading it now, it would go crazy. It was absolutely unprofitable for Russia. But Russia agreed… I have a draft of this treaty on my desk. And as soon as Russia agreed to peace initiatives, an agreement, the project was thrown into the basket. These people may not know everything. But experts took part in this and know… Before accusing us of confrontation, expansion of this conflict, we must return to the negotiating table. To take the wrong document (which appeared in the course of several rounds of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations – EADaily) – new. To stop the war. Many now say: “Counterattack, counterattack!” Lukashenka said.

In this regard, the Belarusian leader noted that misinformation could take place.

“In any battle, disinformation is very dangerous. Remember the Battle of Kursk, near Stalingrad, when we successfully misinformed the enemy and won this battle … But, I must say, the biggest misinformation is this “counterattack”. From my point of view, there is no “counterattack”, and there cannot be. It’s just crazy. One to five at the front to fight on equipment and manpower is just crazy! No, it is necessary to escalate, it is necessary to wind up the Ukrainians in order to continue and drown us in this confrontation. This is the essence of today at the front. We see it. It’s right behind our fence, – said the Belarusian leader.

At the same time, he noted that the big is seen at a distance.

“As I always say, we will come to estimates. And we will see who is right and who is wrong, the Belarusian leader noted.

At the same time, Lukashenka stressed the need for a mutually respectful and equal dialogue.

“And all sorts of preconditions that Ukraine, the President of Ukraine puts forward today – this is already absolutely clear – this is to prevent any negotiations. What are the preconditions? We need to sit down at the negotiating table and work out all sorts of conditions there,” – summed up the President of Belarus.

As a reminder, Russia has been conducting NWO in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. Belarus does not officially participate in and advocates a peaceful resolution of the conflict. At the same time, Minsk supports Moscow’s actions and considers the West to be the culprit of the current situation.
