Correspondent Kysia Hekster is on the Polish side of the border and talks about the military presence in the area:
“Belarus is trying to further increase the tension at the border, and you can see that there is a response in Poland. Thousands of soldiers have been sent to this area to stop the crossing of migrants at the border. Some of them succeed. yet to get to Poland.
Polish soldiers are now carrying out more and more checks on the road. We also notice from reports that we are often stopped by heavily armed soldiers, who want to check our trunk and ask who we are and what we are doing.
We also see members of the Polish civilian army. These are people who, in addition to their daily work, can be called up to support the army. They have now been called up for the first time during this crisis.”
