Before he died, the dirtiest man in the world didn’t get sick even though he didn’t bathe for 60 years

An Iranian man who was dubbed “the dirtiest man in the world” for not taking a shower for 60 years has died. He died at the age of 94.

Amou Haji, who hadn’t bathed for about 67 years, died after being washed by a neighbor. Shortly after taking a bath, his condition worsened and he died.

Amou Haji’s health is said to be fine even if he hasn’t showered in centuries. Some time ago, experts were interested in studying his health, despite his lack of hygiene and poor diet.

A team of doctors led by parasitology professor Dr. Gholamreza Molavi from Tehran’s School of Public Health visited Amou Haji in the village of Dejgah and convinced him to have him run some tests. These tests include various types of hepatitis and AIDS as well as parasites.

Quoted by Oddity Central, Dr. Molavi and his team are very interested in finding and studying the parasites and bacteria that can develop in his non-bathing body. But they were surprised to find no disease-causing bacteria or parasites, with the exception of trichinosis, an infection that, in his case, didn’t seem to produce any symptoms.

“Given Hajj’s unhealthy environment, developing a strong immune system could be the key to his relatively good health,” said Dr. Molavi.

Their findings were particularly surprising given that Amou, who was 87 when tested, often consumed raw foods such as porcupines and rabbits, drank untreated water from puddles, and smoked dry animal dung if he had no tobacco for his pipe.
