Breweries in the Czech Republic produced about 20 million hectoliters of beer last year, which was 2.7 percent less year-on-year.

“For the fourth year already, the values of the annual beer exhibition for the domestic market are lower than the level of 2010. This trend continues to have a negative impact on pubs and restaurants, especially those in small towns,” said the union’s director, Tomáš Slunečko.

Leaning towards non-alcoholic beer

According to him, consumer habits are also changing, and they are increasingly going towards non-alcoholic beer or mixed drinks based on beer.
