Head of the Ciamis Livestock and Fisheries Service (Disnakan) Syarief Nurhidayat emphasized that until now there had been no reports of cases of birds in Ciamis. However, the Ciamis Disnakan has taken various steps to anticipate the spread of bird flu.
“We have attended a national meeting regarding the threat of bird flu with the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health,” said Syarief, Tuesday (7/3/2023).
As a result, the Ministry of Health issued a circular on increasing vigilance against bird flu. Thus, the Ciamis Disnakan also issued a circular letter to the heads of the Livestock UPTD to be forwarded to the breeders.
UPTD Animal Husbandry in each region can improve counseling, information and communication as well as education to the poultry farming community. Ask breeders to immediately report when there are findings of poultry that died suddenly or were sick. So that Disnakan can follow up on the report.
In addition, the Ciamis Disnakan will improve biosecurity to prevent bird flu outbreaks from entering poultry or farm locations. Bearing in mind that bird flu is contagious to humans or zoonoses. Disnakan also coordinated with the Health Office and BPBD Ciamis.
“We also made a circular letter for breeders to strictly implement biosecurity. This includes clean and healthy living habits,” he said.
Disnakan has also conducted biosecurity assistance in 3 sub-districts namely Ciamis, Cipaku and Cijeungjing with a total of 12,900 birds.
