Beaver paralyzes the internet and telephone service for hours

In Canada, a beaver disrupted Internet, phone and cellular connections for hours. Like the transmitter CTV News reported in Vancouver, the beaver apparently chewed through the trunk of an aspen tree, which then fell onto both a power and fiber optic line.

A total of 14 towns between the cities of Prince George and Prince Rupert in the province of British Columbia, around 700 kilometers away, were affected. The only fiber optic cable in the region to date ran over the damaged line. Internet, telephone and mobile phone connections were interrupted for a total of eight hours. Card payments could not be processed either.

The bite marks on the trunk of the tree finally put the investigators on the right track: The culprit was none other than Canada’s national animal – a beaver.
