Metro (Lampost.co) — The Metro City Government (Pemkot) appealed to residents to help in eradicating Dangue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), especially in the transition season. However, this eradication effort is not recommended by using fogging aka spraying insecticides to kill the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Metro Mayor Wahdi Sirajuddin said the spread of dengue cases was very high due to the extreme weather. Therefore, his party asked the community to work together to help overcome and eradicate mosquito nests.

“I just emphasize to the public, the most important thing is that the source is initially eradicated by 3M plus,” he said, Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

3M plus is closing, draining, and burying water reservoirs. Plus the sprinkling of abate powder in the clean water storage area.

Wahdi said, with such public awareness, the eradication of mosquito nests could be maximized.

“I have served at the puskesmas for a long time. I used to only use abate, and it has been clinically tested that abate is safe for health, even to drink it is okay,” he said.

The mayor did not recommend that the eradication of mosquito nests be done quickly fogging. Because, he said, fogging it is very dangerous.

“You can read, fogging it’s nature toxic lol, poison. So the Health Service (Dinkes) should not spray carelessly,” he said.

As of Tuesday, January 11, 2022, Ahmad Yani Hospital was reported to be treating 21 DHF patients. A total of 11 patients of whom came from Metro and 10 other patients from outside the region.
