Be Aware of the Spread of Chikungunya Disease in Tangerang: Tangerang District Health Office

SATELITNEWS.COM, TANGERANG – The Tangerang District Health Office (Dinkes) asked the public to be aware of the spread of chikungunya disease, which is caused by infection with the Aedes Albopictus mosquito virus.

The Head of the Tangerang Regency Office, Muchlis, said that his party had found several cases of chikungunya disease in the Tangerang Regency area. According to him, currently chikungunya and DHF have started to be prone.

“Because now we are more prone to contracting chikungunya and dengue fever,” Muchlis told Satellite News, Monday (31/7).

Therefore, Muchlis asked the public to be able to maintain environmental cleanliness, starting from cleaning the house, yard and not littering.

In addition, his party also appealed to the public to continue to care about environmental cleanliness and intensify the Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) movement, in order to prevent chikungunya disease.

Muchlis said, the symptoms of chikungunya are very similar to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), such as hot body temperature, dizziness, joint pain, and decreased platelets.

“However, there is no bleeding like the symptoms of DHF. Therefore, people must maintain cleanliness, “he said.

When asked about the number of chikungunya in detail, Muchlis admitted that the Tangerang District Health Office had not yet been able to provide detailed case data. This is because they are still in the data collection process.

“For case reports, there is not much increase in chikungunya. The possibility is the same as the DHF cases as in the previous year,” said Muchlis.

Meanwhile, the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) at the Tangerang District Health Office, Sumihar Sihaloho added, chikungunya is the disease most prone to occur when the weather changes, so people must anticipate as early as possible.

“The community must anticipate as early as possible, so that chikungunya can be anticipated,” he concluded. (alfian/aditya)
