Bayern Munich sports director Hasan Salihamidzic is expecting a contract extension with goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and hopes for the transfer of an international top star. “I am an optimist, so I hope that we can extend the contract with Manuel,” said Salihamidzic of “Welt am Sonntag”. The recent disagreements between Neuer and the German record champions have been “clarified internally”, said Salihamidzic.

Neuer had complained in an interview to “Bild am Sonntag” that he missed the discretion of earlier times in his contract negotiations with FC Bayern. “Irritated”, he showed himself that the contents of the contract talks have been made public.
“Manuel knows that we really appreciate him. I played with Oliver Kahn. I know how good a world-class goalkeeper is in a team. Manuel is a world-class goalkeeper. He is highly valued in our club,” said Salihamidzic. Negotiations between Munich and Captain Neuer about a new contract beyond the summer of 2021 have recently been difficult. The negotiation partners are clearly different in terms of duration and salary.
After signing Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, Bayern are planning further transfers, according to Salihamidzic. “We want to strengthen ourselves with a top talent from Europe and also bring an international star to Munich, who enhances the quality of our team and helps the team to offer our spectators strong and attractive football,” said the 43-year-old.
Most recently, there was speculation about a move by national player Leroy Sané from Manchester City to Munich. “We remain a buyers’ club. I and all of us stand for the fact that we want to win the Champions League – without becoming economically unreasonable,” said Salihamidzic, without commenting on any names.
