Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have distanced themselves from a move for Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 37-year-old Portuguese striker returned to Red Devils training on Tuesday after missing the club’s pre-season tour for ‘family reasons’.
United are understood to remain reluctant to sell Ronaldo, having held talks with him and agent Jorge Mendes at Carrington.
And if the greatest goalscorer in history still wants to leave, it looks like he’s running out of options.
Bayern and Chelsea have ruled themselves out of the race in recent weeks, and Oliver Kahn has now explained the Bundesliga club’s position.
The Bayern manager told Bild: “We discussed Cristiano Ronaldo internally, I consider him one of the best footballers of all time.
“Then we came to the conclusion that, despite the appreciation for Cristiano, it would not fit our philosophy in the current situation.”
Atletico faced protests from fans amid reports it could sign Ronaldo, who haunted the Spanish club during his time at Real Madrid and Juventus.
