Bayern equals Liverpool with sixth overall victory, Lewandowski | unique performance NOW

Bayern Munich is in joint third place on the list after the sixth victory on Sunday in the European Cup I / Champions League. The Germans are on a level with Liverpool and have AC Milan (seven victories) in their sights. Real Madrid was the strongest in Europe no less than thirteen times.

A striking header from Kingsley Coman was enough for Bayern to beat Paris Saint-Germain 0-1 in the final in Estádio da Luz in Lisbon. ‘Der Rekordmeister’ won the Champions League, which had its first edition in the 1992/1993 season, also in 2001 and 2013. In 1974, 1975 and 1976 Bayern was the best in the European Cup I. PSG won the ‘Cup with the Big Ears’ never.

Extra special is that Bayern also won the DFB-Pokal this season and became national champion. After 2013, it is the second time in club history that the club takes the ‘treble’. FC Barcelona (2009 and 2015) is the only club to have won the three important prizes twice (2009 and 2015) in a season.

The only other clubs with a treble are Celtic (1967), Ajax (1972), PSV (1988), Manchester United (1999) and Internazionale (2010).

Double treble for Lewandowski

It was a special season for Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, because he can speak of a double ‘treble’. The Pole not only won the Champions League, league and cup, but also became the top scorer in all those tournaments.

32-year-old Lewandowski is the first player ever to achieve this. He scored 34 times in the Bundesliga, six times in the DFB-Pokal and fifteen times in Europe.

In September Lewandowski and Bayern can already win the next European prize, when the team of trainer Hansi Flick will play against Sevilla for the European Super Cup in the Puskás Arena in Budapest. The club from Munich only won that prize once and that was in 2013.
