NEW YORK – New York City officials warn New Yorkers visiting Central Park to be careful when walking because you could step on a bat. That’s right, a bat.
Authorities say the bats are in a state of shock due to the low temperatures and for this they fall from the trees.
While it may seem strange, they said it’s not that rare.
The good news: Bats are fine. As it gets hotter during the day, the winged creatures eventually warm up and take flight.
The Department of Parks advises anyone who sees one on the ground not to touch it; just call 3-1-1 so the park rangers can help the animal.
