“Bathing in Blood” takes place with a fifth of the guests – Weil am Rhein

Festival in Weil am Rhein

The heavy metal festival “Baden in Blut” will take place on July 23rd and 24th in the Dreiländergarten in Weil am Rhein. The Medieval Festival, however, was canceled.

The heavy metal festival “Baden in Blut” will take place on July 23rd and 24th in the Dreiländergarten in Weil am Rhein – but in a stripped-down version and with a different structure due to extensive infection protection requirements. As reported by the State Garden Show Society, there is now only one concert area with central, controlled access. Food stands and fan article stands will only be accessible to guests with a ticket.

The most important requirement that the city tied to its commitment, however, is the reduction in the number of visitors: Instead of a good 2500 fans, only 500 are allowed on both days, who are to be spread out generously on the festival site. There is no box office at all, tickets are only available in advance and only for one day at a time.

For the organizing “Metal Maniacs” this means that on the one hand they have higher expenses because they have to meet infection protection requirements, but on the other hand they also generate less income.

Tickets are getting more expensive

That is why they have to increase the ticket prices – from 49 euros for the whole weekend to now 50 euros for an evening. The organizers have not yet revealed which bands will be performing. They report that it was not easy to find formations at all that saw themselves in a position to offer a stage program, since the lockdown prevented rehearsals together. But the line-up is now in place: Young bands are to be presented on Friday, while “Old School Hard Rock” will be offered on Saturday.

The Medieval Festival will not take place, at least in the summer, the LGS Society continues. The organizers had canceled because it was not economically feasible for them with a reduced number of visitors. It remains to be seen whether the second planned medieval spectacle in October will be possible.
