Basque singer, poet and politician: Michel Labéguerie, the centenary

A young singer with a warm voice, dry guitar placed on the left thigh. This black and white image which resurfaces in the press these days is that of Michel Labéguerie, lyricist, composer, politician and doctor, who died in 1980. Born in Ustaritz in 1921, he is one of those who have indelibly marked their era and signed some of the most beautiful songs of the last fifty years. On the occasion of the centenary of his birth, one of these sons, Peyo Labéguerie, publishes a tribute album which contains twenty titles including ten unpublished songs (1).
