Basketball, the Serie A audience is growing: almost one million spectators, +10% compared to a year ago

The Serie A basketball closed the regular season with a total of 986,173 spectators, exceeding 4,000 on average (4,109), an increase of 9.2% compared to last season. The overall attendance figure is the result of a first round which reached an average of 3,968 spectators and a second round which reached 4,239. This is the highest turnout figure since 1991/92 when it reached an average of 4,236.

Milan, over 9 thousand media spectators

It’s still the EA7 Emporio Armani Milan leading the ranking in terms of attendance with 9,014 spectators on average, followed by Virtus Segafredo Bologna with 6,705. In third place was Carpegna Prosciutto Pesaro with 5,598 spectators. Followed by 3 clubs over the 4,000 mark: Openjobmetis Varese with 4,621, Germani Brescia with 4,459 and NutriBullet Treviso Basket with 4,076. The filling percentage of Umana Reyer Venezia remains the highest at 96%, with Trento coming in second with 91% and Varese third with 90%.

Milan-Bologna the challenge with the largest audience

In the Top Five of races with the highest turnout EA7 Emporio Armani Milano stands out. The total proceeds of the regular season was 13,270,087 euros. The match that generated the highest revenue of the entire regular season was the one between Virtus Segafredo Bologna and EA7 Emporio Armani Milano on 10 March (22nd matchday) with 271,652 euros. In second place is the EA7 Emporio Armani Milano-Virtus Segafredo Bologna match on 10 December (11th matchday) with 204,420 euros. Two other home matches between Virtus Segafredo Bologna follow: against Carpegna Prosciutto Pesaro on 30 December (14th matchday) with 186,583 euros and with Estra Pistoia on 1st April (25th matchday) with proceeds of 159,548 euros. The match between EA7 Emporio Armani Milano and Germani Brescia on 28 April (29th matchday) closes with 158,308 euros.
