Very solid defensively in the last quarter, Caen Basket Calvados managed to take the measure of Hyères-Toulon, this Friday January 13, 2023 (60-68). It was not without difficulty against the bottom of the National 1 championship. The visitors played eight, deprived of Demond Watt and Yanik Blanc, not yet replaced.

TOULON 60 – 68 CAEN

18-20 / 12-19 / 17-10 / 13-19

HYERES TOULON : Ouattara, Staniulis 17, Govidy 10, Colimon 4, Moukenga 10, then Jean 3, Engene 1, Wilson 3, Baradji 11, Condé 1. CAEN : Thibedore 8, Ona Embo 12, Smock 8, Awich 17, Njiba 12 , then Veraghe, Pope, Bernaoui 11, Marmillod NPJ.

Leading nine points at halftime, Caen got scared by not finding the way to the basket in the third quarter. The HTV took advantage – by having provoked it – of its poor success (10 points scored in ten minutes) to come back on the heels of the CBC (47-49, 30′). Finally, the Caennais moved forward in the last quarter, relying on a good defense (13 points conceded).

Awich stands apart

Author of 17 points and 9 rebounds, Joel Awich had a good game. Note that only one player from the bench (Mounir Bernaoui) scored.

Caen consolidates its place in the top 5, where it takes a point ahead of Mulhouse, beaten by Orchies. His next match will oppose him to Pont-de-Chéruy, who hopes to surprise at the top of the table, Friday January 20, 2023 at the Palais des Sports.
