Basketball (NM2): JSA-BMB, BBM, Castelnau and GAB in the same group for the coming season – ARL

July 27, 2022

National 2 Pool B will offer us a host of derbies for the coming season. The JSA-BMB, relegated from NM1, will notably find Castelanau-de-Médoc, promoted from NM3 to NM2.

The French Basketball Federation has unveiled the content of the different groups of the national championships as well as the calendars that go with them. Pool B of National Men 2 promises to be disputed and especially rich in derbies.

The JSA-Bordeaux Metropolis Basketball will act as scarecrows. After a failed season in NM1, and after being for many years the best basketball team in Gironde (including seasons in Pro B), the JSA-BMB will be keen to quickly rise to the third echelon of French basketball. The club, which plays in the sumptuous Palais des Sports in Bordeaux, announced a few weeks ago the arrival of Charles Paillette as president. Julien Tauzin will coach the first team while Christian Monschau (ex coach of Châlons, Le Havre, Gravelines…) arrives with his experience as Advisor to the Presidency and Technical Staff.

On the contrary, Castelnau-de-Médoc will be the Tom Thumb of the hen. After a great season in NM3, the promoted Médoc has fully deserved its place in the fourth division. If the task will not be simple, the men of President Michel Tresmontan can count on its Green Army always boiling in the Cauldron of Canterane.

The Beyssac Beaupuy Marmandenow trained by Alexandre Tansini, will count on his side repeat the same blow as last year but… better. The BBM had delivered a full season by qualifying for the first time in its history for the playoffs of the NM2 championship (after a fine second place obtained at the end of the regular season). Finally the lot-et-garonnais fail in a match of the rise in NM1. Add to that a fine career in the Coupe de France which ended in the semi-finals. The legendary Collineum Pascal Laperche is about to vibrate for a new season.

If last year there were many 100% Lot-et-Garonne derbies with Agen (who wanted to go back to NM3) and Villeneuve-sur-Lot (relegated to NM3), there were only two of them for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. And they promise to be explosive since the BBM will challenge its enemy neighbor to Garonne Future Basketballahead of only a small point last year at the end of the regular season. The GAB intends to once again play the leading roles. Adrien Ferrer was appointed head of the pennant team after the departure of Dominique Guéret.

The rest of the pool is completed by a pack of teams from the Landes including Dax-Gamarde (which played in NM1 last year), Mont-de-Marsan, the Avenir Serreslousiens Colombins Horsarrois and the Elan Souémontain Montgaillardais Sarraziétois as well as via Niort, Auch, Pornic, Rezé, Toulouse and the Poitiers reserve.

Important dates to note

The season will start on September 10 for each team. The JSA-Bordeaux Métropolle Basket will go to Rezé for a first test, the GAB will host Niort while Castelnau-Médoc will receive the BBM.

Several unmissable dates in this first phase are to be noted now in your diaries, such as this enticing 5th day which will oppose the BBM to the JSA-BMB on the weekend of October 8th. The following day will be marked by the Girondin derby JSA-BMB vs. CMBBC in Bordeaux. The first leg of the 47 derby between Beyssac-Beaupuy-Marmande and GAB is scheduled for the first weekend of December (11th day).
