Basil pleads with the Secretary General: I accept Franjieh…don’t leave me Articles archive

On the cusp of the eighteenth year of the Mar Mikhael understanding between Hezbollah and the Free Movement, it can be officially announced, quoting sources close to Hezbollah, that the understanding in its basic form has “ended” irreversibly… There is no need here to announce an official divorce, as the understanding between the two parties will become “on” The piece »like the party’s relationship with the rest of the parties, unless Bassil returns to his political senses after his upcoming meeting with the Secretary-General of the party, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah… According to reliable information, the meeting is close and at the request and insistence of Basil… at the time of transferring close associates of the head of the movement And mutual friends, he changed his position after sensing the size of the political loss that would befall him after the establishment of the “presidential-governmental” settlement led by France on securing the Lebanese Forces Pact Party and the necessary quorum to elect Franjieh as president of the republic in return for electing the former Lebanese ambassador to the United Nations, Nawaf Salam, as prime minister. It seems that the contacts will intensify during the next two weeks to mature the settlement in the coming months, if not weeks.

Let us be logical. The resistance does not need anyone, neither Bassil nor anyone else. Its strength is from and in it, but as a precaution, the following can be suggested:

First: Does the resistance need Basil to the point of changing its national convictions and choices represented in supporting Franjieh as a final and irreversible decision to the presidency of the republic, in return for satisfying him and maintaining an understanding that drained her a lot?

Second: Will Bassil prevent any aggression against the resistance and all of Lebanon if, for example, the American warships decide to bomb us, or the Israeli enemy decides to target us?

Third: Didn’t Basil receive in advance the price of his stances with the resistance, if we did not say he took a lot in exchange for all that he gave to it?

Fourth: And it is the most important question: Who is the loser from destroying the “Mar Mikhael” understanding, Basil or Hezbollah?

In the past days, and after the five-year Paris conference, the French delivered to Hezbollah a clear message, its broad headline on the internal side, specifically “Franjieh in exchange for Nawaf Salam”. Unfortunately for Bassil, perhaps the Lebanese Forces will secure the necessary quorum to elect Franjieh. These are not wishes, but rather reliable information obtained by the “Liwaa” from more than one main source in Lebanon and abroad, and from the Forces Party itself. The question raised here, in bold:

– What will Basil do, what will be his fate, and what will Hezbollah do for him, after he has lost the party and reached an understanding with him without collecting any price except for the lifting of US sanctions on him, and this “American-Qatari” honor cannot be penalized internally if he is not on good terms with the party?

On the authority of those familiar with the position of the national duo, what Bassil was surprised by was Hezbollah’s adherence to Franjieh even if the price was Mar Mikhael’s understanding. Of course, the party’s position did not stem from its disdain for its ally or alliance with him as much as it was an expression of overwhelming dissatisfaction with the blackmail policy that Basil practices it in every problem… Despite this, he remained clinging to the man on the rule announced by the Secretary-General of the party, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah: “If we put our hand in someone’s hand, we will not hasten to withdraw it unless the allies want it.”

Consequently, the party did not fight Basil with understanding, but rather its choice was clear in terms of stopping him at his limit and calling things by their names, throwing the ball into his court. Bassil, during the past few days, has sent clear messages about his willingness to walk with Franjieh in terms of securing a quorum for his election and leaving the movement’s deputies free to vote for him, but within a basket of political conditions, and a “new” understanding on the ruins of the “Mar Mikhael” understanding.
