Director Nahas Hidayat recounts an interesting experience when he went to meet director and mentor Basil Joseph with a script he had written for six months. Nahas says that he went to Basileton with the script with high hopes, but after reading it, Pulli’s reply devastated him. Nahas said in an interview to Film Companion South that there was an incident before making the RDX film.
After watching RDX, it was expected that Basiletan would say that the movie is okay and that there are some problems in some places. But Basileton called me on the phone and spoke in a hoarse voice. It’s cool, everyone in the theater clapped and watched the movie, I was in the mood to see you.
Basileton’s words gave me as much joy as the applause from the theater. Basileton is not so easy to say okay. The first time I wrote a script and gave it to me, there was a look that looked at me. It is said that if you do this, you will be out of the field.
Think about it. It took six months to write and work. I am taking this to Basiletta saying I am going to be independent. Moreover, he also bought another artist’s date.

After watching RDX, I thought I would be brutally killed and called a film that got away with gimmicks. But Basileton was celebrating the success of RDX. It was a big achievement for me,’ when Nahas said, Basil’s comment was that Pacha should say what he has to say, and only if he kills like that, Basil’s comment was.
‘What if they also think that it is better to stop and comfort them by saying that there is nothing wrong. If you say this is good, you are out of the field, there is nothing more to think about it. Also because it’s not really good (laughter). So why didn’t he take the RDX,’ said Basil.
When asked who was the actor who said OK to that script, Nahas and Basil’s answer was laughter.
‘ I saw RDX in a fully packed theatre. As soon as I came out after watching the film, I was sure that the film was a hit. It was a terrible feeling to come out and tell many people that he was with us.
We feel happy when someone with us becomes successful. Nahas was invited home and celebrated by cutting a cake. It is also an achievement for us.
Everyone wants to reach that. Two or three more people are expected to start next year. ‘Tis the season for the people below me to become independent, said Basil.
