Bars and terraces in Burgos, future in Phase 1- The GO!

Until the May 22, bars can submit their requests. The more than 600 bars in the city with terraces may request new measures to comply with the 50% of the capacity that you can take care of. From today they can expand their terraces twice their surface, and those who do not have a terrace yet, may request it.

The distance between the tables will be two meters minimum, but the creation of new terraces is affected by the physical conditions of each street. The bars of the San Juan or La Puebla street, for example, they ask for the installation of nightstands, something that until now had been prohibited. Some of these bars ask place terraces in the car park on Calle Trinidad. Since the services will not be able to be given inside the bars, new measures are demanded from the City Council in order not to be left behind.

He agreement reached between the Federation of Hospitality Entrepreneurs and the City Council will allow new considerations. In some cases, install bars outside the establishments. On the other hand, the creation of smoking points outside the establishments will be considered.

Daniel Garabito, Councilor for Licenses, explained together with the president of the Federation of Employers of the Hospitality Industry of Burgos, Fernando de la Varga, the procedure that employers will follow. Existing terraces must comply as much as possible with public health conditions. On the one hand, the services of the bars should be favored, but at the same time maintain the correct use of public roads.

Entrepreneurs who want to make modifications to their terraces, or create one, must present a new request. They will indicate the number of tables available, in addition to other technical criteria. This request must be submitted before May 22 to the technical service of Licenses. The decision to accept or reject the modifications will depend on whether these changes are compatible with the “general interest”. This ‘extraordinary regime of occupation of public roads’ that will be operating until October 31.
