Virologist Marion Koopmans of Erasmus MC in Rotterdam is part of an international research team of the World Health Organization WHO, which will investigate the origin of the corona virus. The virus first appeared in people last year in the Chinese city of Wuhan, but where it exactly came from is still not entirely clear.
Erasmus confirmed a message from NRC and the British The Telegraph about the participation of the prominent Dutch. The scientists hope to conduct research on site as soon as possible. The mission also includes virologists, public health specialists and animal health experts from the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Denmark, Japan, Qatar, Germany, Vietnam and Russia.
